Flood Warning issued May 21 at 11:29AM CDT until May 21 at 4:00PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of the following counties, Harrison, Pottawattamie, Shelby, Burt, Butler, Colfax, Dodge, Douglas, Saunders and Washington. * WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1126 AM CDT, emergency management, trained spotters, and the public reported very heavy rainfall across the warned area early this morning. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain have fallen over much of the warned area, with some locations receiving 8 inches or more. - Some of the hardest impacted locations include eastern Butler and western Saunders counties, southeast Dodge county, northern Douglas and southern Washington county, and extending into Shelby county. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Omaha, northern Council Bluffs, Fremont, Blair, Harlan, Wahoo, David City, Tekamah, Bennington, Boys Town, Elkhorn, Carter Lake, Missouri Valley, Valley, Logan, Avoca, Arlington, North Bend, Yutan and Underwood. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
