Flood Advisory issued May 11 at 2:56PM MDT until May 11 at 6:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM * WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of north central New Mexico, including the following counties, southeastern Sandoval and southern Santa Fe. * WHEN...Until 600 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 256 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Eldorado At Santa Fe, Galisteo, Los Cerrillos, Cerrillos Hills State Park, Madrid, Lamy and Golden. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
