Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Walnut River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...From Saturday morning to late Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Considerable flooding of farmland is expected. Widespread flooding of the park just upstream of the gage site is anticipated. East Chestnut Avenue east of By-pass is closed due to water over roadway. Greens Farm Road floods between Highway 166 north to Dunbar Hill. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 11.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow morning to a crest of 20.0 feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood stage late Sunday evening. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
