Flood Watch issued July 11 at 12:35PM EDT until July 13 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell and Rowan, Johnson, Martin, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, Whitley, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe. * WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect until late Sunday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing locally heavy rainfall are expected through the weekend. Already wet soils in some areas will make these locations more susceptible to flooding. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Special Weather Statement issued July 11 at 5:38PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 538 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Paxton, or 8 miles north of Jackson, moving southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Prestonsburg, Jackson, Salyersville, Mason, Simpson, Burkhart, Lexie, Burning Fork, Noctor, Kernie, West Royalton Station, Blue River, Gapville, Evanston, Lane, Sewell, Haddix, Malaga, Guage, and Seiltz. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway between mile markers 55 and 76. U.S. Highway 23 in Floyd County between mile markers 15 and 16. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
