Flood Watch issued May 15 at 8:13PM CDT until May 18 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana, including the following parishes, Central Tangipahoa, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Northern Livingston, Northern Tangipahoa, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana and southern Mississippi, including the following counties, Amite, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson. * WHEN...From Thursday evening through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of storms will be moving through the area beginning Thursday night and continuing into Saturday morning. 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts in excess of 6 inches will be possible, enhancing the flash flooding threat. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Bogue Chitto River Near Bush affecting St. Tammany Parish. Pearl River Near Bogalusa affecting Washington and Pearl River Counties. Pearl River Near Pearl River affecting Hancock, Pearl River and St. Tammany Counties. For the Bogue Chitto River...including Bush...Minor flooding is forecast. For the Lower Pearl River...including Bogalusa, Pearl River...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Pearl River near Bogalusa. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Woodlands and crop acreage along the river will be flooded. The Bogue Chitto Wildlife Management area will be inundated with water in recreational camps and over access roads. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 18.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.0 feet early Friday afternoon. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
