Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Special Weather Statement issued June 5 at 4:55AM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA At 455 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 10 miles west of Bernice to 6 miles west of Ringgold. Movement was southeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Ruston, Claiborne, Grambling, Jonesboro, Farmerville, Arcadia, Bernice, Ringgold, Gibsland, Heflin, Cooley, Dubach, Choudrant, Simsboro, Marion, Junction City, Chatham, Hodge, North Hodge, and Vienna. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
