Excessive Heat Warning issued June 20 at 12:59PM EDT until June 20 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Caribou ME * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 106. * WHERE...Coastal Hancock, Central Washington, Interior Hancock, and Southern Penobscot Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

At 633 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near West Quoddy Head to 8 nm southwest of Rockland, moving east at 25 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots and small hail. SOURCE...Radar and satellite indicated. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Locations impacted include... Libby Island Light, Winter Harbor, Baker Island Light, South Trescot, Southwest Harbor, Great Duck Island Light, Moose Peak Light, Prospect Harbor, Bar Harbor, Cutler, Bass Harbor Light, and Jonesport. Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected.
