Flood Warning issued May 30 at 2:00PM CDT until May 31 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Hastings NE * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of central Nebraska, including the following counties, Howard and Sherman. * WHEN...Until noon CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Numerous rural, county roads remain closed due to flooding that occurred earlier Thursday morning. In addition, several small creeks and streams remain out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 149 PM CDT, Emergency management reported continued flooding and closure of several rural, county roads within an area centered primarily 5 miles either side of a line running from Sherman Reservoir to St. Paul. In addition, various creeks and streams within the Warning area are also in flood, due to 2 to 5 inches of rain that fell in a short time early Thursday morning. This includes an automated gauge along the Turkey Creek north of Dannebrog, which is at a stage of 19 ft. as of 1245 PM CDT, well above minor flood stage of 17 ft. While flood waters should continue to slowly recede over the next 12 to 24 hours and creeks should ease back to within their banks, there is the possibility of additional heavy rainfall this evening, which could cause renewed flooding issues, if it occurs. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Oak Creek, Munson Creek, Auger Creek, Moffet Creek, Cady Creek, Dry Creek, Cedar Creek, Lake Creek, Turkey Creek, Cow Creek, Davis Creek, Deer Creek, Prairie Slough, Spring Creek, Big Slough and Rock Creek. - Some locations that could experience flooding include... St. Paul, Dannebrog, Elba, Ashton, Howard City, Farwell and Boelus. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
