Flood Advisory issued July 10 at 6:24PM EDT until July 10 at 9:30PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina... * WHEN...Until 930 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 623 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, James Island, Johns Island, Maryville, Saint Andrews, South Windermere, Oakland, The Citadel and Citadel Mall. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Heavy rain in Downtown Charleston will result in nuisance flooding of low-lying areas. Areas most prone to flooding include the Market, Crosstown, East Bay Street and Morrison Drive. Slow down when traveling and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle ahead. Do not drive into water of unknown depth.

Heat Advisory issued July 10 at 2:16PM EDT until July 11 at 7:00PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC * WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values around 113 degrees. For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 110 degrees expected. * WHERE...Charleston and Tidal Berkeley Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 7 PM EDT this evening. For the Heat Advisory, from 11 AM to 7 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
