Flood Watch issued July 16 at 11:25AM CDT until July 17 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following counties, Bandera, Blanco, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Llano, Maverick, Medina, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde and Zavala. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...There is a potential for life threatening flooding somewhere in the watch area. Considerable to locally catastrophic flash flooding impacts are likely for the southern Edwards Plateau, Rio Grande, Hill Country, and US 90 corridor west of San Antonio. Excessive runoff will result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Catastrophic impacts are possible downstream of the heaviest rains. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Intense rainfall rates and compounding effects from multiple rounds of storms will maintain a dangerous flash flood threat through Friday morning. Additional rain amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible within the Flood Watch area with isolated amounts up to 8 inches possible in the Rio Grande Plains, southern Edwards Plateau, Hill Country, and US 90 corridor west of San Antonio. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Flood Warning issued July 16 at 1:03PM CDT until July 18 at 11:20AM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Texas... Llano River at Llano affecting Llano County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Llano River at Llano. * WHEN...Until late Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...At 12.0 feet, Moderate lowland flooding makes secondary roads and low bridges in the flood plain dangerous to motorists including the low water crossing of Ranch Road 3404/Slab Road near Kingsland. Equipment should be moved from low docks and boat ties loosened downstream in Kingsland. At 16.0 feet, Moderate lowland flooding threatens docks and boats in the flood plain downstream in Kingsland. Secondary roads and bridges will be flooded and dangerous to motorists. Flow exceeds the USGS 1:2 year flood level. At 20.0 feet, Flow will be damaging to docks and boats downstream in Kingsland. The lowest secondary roads and bridges will be severely flooded and dangerous. Near the USGS 1:5 year flood level. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 6.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage this afternoon to 21.1 feet late this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 20.5 feet on 02/04/1992. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground.
