Flood Watch issued May 4 at 12:55PM CDT until May 5 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following areas, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Coastal Harris, Grimes, Houston, Inland Harris, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller and Washington. * WHEN...Through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff has resulted in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Additional flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive river flooding is ongoing and additional street flooding remains possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A lull in widespread heavy rain is expected through this evening; however, some scattered showers/storms are possible this afternoon which may contribute to the ongoing flooding. The next round of heavy rainfall is expected late tonight into Sunday. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is expected with isolated higher amounts of 4 to 8 inches possible within the watch area. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Trinity River near Romayor affecting San Jacinto, Liberty and Polk Counties. Menard Creek near Rye affecting Liberty, Polk and Hardin Counties. Trinity River near Crockett affecting Madison, Trinity, Houston and Walker Counties. Trinity River at Liberty affecting Liberty County. Trinity River near Goodrich affecting San Jacinto, Liberty and Polk Counties. Trinity River near Moss Bluff affecting Chambers and Liberty Counties. Trinity River at Riverside affecting San Jacinto, Trinity, Polk and Walker Counties. ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Texas... Bedias Creek near Madisonville affecting Madison and Walker Counties. For the Trinity River...including Crockett, Riverside, Romayor, Goodrich, Liberty, Moss Bluff...Major flooding is forecast. For the Menard Creek...including Rye...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Trinity River at Liberty. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 29.0 feet, Major lowland flooding begins as homes in several subdivisions above Liberty begin flooding. Extensive flooding over much of Liberty County can be expected with each incremental rise in the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 31.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 21.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:15 AM CDT Saturday was 31.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 31.6 feet early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 26.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 31.0 feet on 10/21/1994. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
