Flood Watch issued April 28 at 2:10PM CDT until April 29 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes, Allen, Beauregard, Evangeline, Northern Calcasieu, Rapides and Vernon and southeast Texas, including the following areas, Hardin, Northern Jasper, Northern Newton, Northern Orange, Southern Jasper, Southern Newton and Tyler. * WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms will increase across the region, with some training of thunderstorms possible. This could result in areas of 3 to 5 inches of rainfall with isolated higher amounts possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Flash Flood Warning issued April 29 at 2:30AM CDT until April 29 at 6:30AM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA At 230 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Jasper, Woodville, Colmesneil, Chester, Town Bluff, Rockland, Ebenezer, Warren, Browndell, Spurger, Ivanhoe, Hillister and Sam Rayburn Dam. Numerous reports of flash flooding in the warned area. Flash flooding will worsen in areas, where intense rainfall continues. Some locations in southern Tyler county will approach 10 inches of rain over the next few hours. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
